Believe in people’s many capacities.

Dr. Amilcar Silva is Principal of the Jeremiah E. Burke High School. Amilcar and the Burke’s instructional leadership team showed us how fundamental it is to believe in students’ abilities and strengths. They talked about how they believed their students are capable of owning the direction of their lives, challenging social norms, and improving conditions locally and globally.

This team at the Burke reminds us that a lot of bias shows up in the soft doubt of lowered expectations.
